Replacement of the communal heating with apartment HIUs for space heating & hot water, delivered at a £800k saving versus alternatives with flat-by-flat designs to suit 100-year-old buildings.
We proposed a switch to heat interface units (HIUs) for each apartment, providing local control of heating and hot water while replacing the communal system. Our tender offered a competition-beating price, saving around £800,000.
The estates 100-year-old fabric, period features and limited access routes meant we designed bespoke layouts per flat (one- to four-bed homes) and found creative equipment locations. Where residents needed urgent installs, our teams prioritised early delivery several months ahead of the main programme.
- Technologies: Apartment HIUs; upgraded distribution; local controls
- Scope: Flat-by-flat surveys, bespoke specifications, resident liaison, phased install
- Outcome: £800k saving, modernised systems, faster comfort improvements for priority homes
